Our first week of outreach in Okinawa, Japan has been an amazing way to start off the month here. From the moment we stepped off the plane we were greeted with a warm smile, open arms, and kind hearts. The Okinawa people are so friendly and you can really feel the presence of God among the christians that are supporting us here in our mission. Our first stop was at a local church for sunday morning service, Agape Community Church really fulfilled their name and showed us so much love. They blessed us so much that morning sharing in a service and fellowship after, and hopefully we blessed them too. Xander shared a spirit led testimony and message about trusting God and faith when it comes to facing challenges in life. His message touched many people in the congregation and led us to pray for each member and their needs. Xander was definately a pastor that day, he even dressed the part. The actual pastor of the Agape church was a kind God fearing man who took us around Okinawa the next day to fully understand the culture of the city. We went on a prayer walk through the city, praying over ancestory worship centres and Yuta as well as over the entire city eventually leading us to a local park. At the park we did street ministry, singing songs such as Bambalela and Jesu Waka waka as the pastor told the Jesus story to the children. Despite the language barrier we are facing, we still are able to interact with the people through magic tricks, dance, and of course soccer. God was definitly present during that day as we did ministry and we truly believe that he will change Okinawa people even if we arent able to see it firsthand. We also were able to bless the YWAM base with African dances by Hope and Frida as well as Frida sharing a personal testimony and encouragement to the people about nothing being impossible with God. The Japanese people are some of the most amazing and friendly people we have ever met and are loving every minute of being here. Not only are we doing ministry but we are trying to become engaged with the Okinawa culture which means learning Japanese, eating their food (its delicious, so much rice), and learning their customs. Our team is really focused on loving the Okinawan people , blessing and serving them in anyway possible. Wherever the Spirit leads us we will go, we are now at a church staying here for a week where we will be doing an African night for the youth here, prayer walks, and evangelism in the streets. Thanks for the prayers and support throughout this time, God is present in Okinawa and his love never fails!
