What a wonderful week it has been in Okinawa with our team and God. We were still feeling a bit discouraged as the week began because we cannot see God working openly with the community, but we know that we are suppose to be here and that change doesn't always happen right away. It is not about our time and experience, it is all about God's. Knowing that we stepped out into the youth community and went to the national university to talk to the students and hand out flyers for an international bbq we were having. We handed out many flyers in hopes of drawing a crowd, but not expecting much knowing what Japanese culture is like especially when related to the church. After two days at the university and parks downtown evangelising and praying we moved to a new church to work with their preschool program. We were able to sit in for two days of fun and ministry with the kids. It was incredible to play with the children and see how much joy they had, and it made us so happy. Although the little girls didn't enjoy when Claudio acted like a lion ( three of them started crying) it was great to minister to the children of Okinawa. They are all so adorable, Xander wants to steal some kids for himself! After an encouraging two days for the team, we were a bit tired but ready for the beach bbq with the university students. Not expecting many students to come, only about 10, we were amazed when 31 students showed up ready to have fun! It's crazy how God surprises you, it was a wonderful BBQ where we got to build relationships with the students and just have a fun time playing games, talking, and eating delicious food. Many of the students are going to attend our African youth night next week as well. It was really quite an exciting week, with God surprising us in the ways that he works, even when we don't fully believe. He is so good and we give him all the glory in Japan, things are happening. Please pray for the students of the university that we can minister to their hearts during the days to come.
